fun little things...

I just love these list things so much so that I figured I write one too. I suppose it is only fair. I do read everyone elses and enjoy them very much. These lists are a fun way to get to know what other bloggers like and you get a little peek at their personalities.
Since I’ve been at work more lately I really have to struggle to find time to come up with posts. Which makes me super sad because I kind of fell in love with the whole thing and not having time to do it…well, that flat out sucks… Maybe this list is a small way of making up for my absence.

So I am currently…

Reading… Well, I’m currently in between books. I just finished The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I loved it and I’m sure you’ve heard all about it from so many others since it’s been pretty popular so I won’t get into that. Next up for me is The Chaperone by Laura Moriarty, the book I am most excited about reading.
I am a reader, always have been, and one of the books that I’ve been carrying around for a few years now is Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman. It is one of my favorite books, a collection of short stories. It’s whimsical, thought- provoking, depressing, magical, slightly comical. Some stories are just heavenly…light science fiction for romantics…

Watching… Dawson’s Creek…yup…Dawson’s Creek. I like having slightly mindless television playing in the background while I make and sew. I don’t know how or why I started playing this show to begin with, but since I have, I’ve realized one thing. When I was younger, maybe too young to watch this show to begin with, I fell for Dawson (fell hard) but now that I’m older I definitely am a Pacey person.

Loving… so many little things. Like the county fairs, the farmers markets, work, new shoes, cute dresses, not having to wear stockings, discovering Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer in Plum, new places, new people…little things.

Enjoying… getting to know new people in and out of work. That part has been really fun and great. It’s also given me a chance to discover new parts and places in and around Portland, which makes it so much more comfortable getting around here on my own.

Not Enjoying… how hot it’s been getting around here. Last summer around these parts was so mild in comparison to Southern Ca, I thought I was in heaven! I do love certain things that the summer brings, like farmers markets, fairs and fresh fruit, but man I really don’t like the sun!

Anticipating… The way my hair will look and feel after I spend way too much money on a cut and color tomorrow. My hair hasn’t gotten very long, but since it has grown so much I haven’t felt like myself. I think my hair lost my personality in its growth and I’m not really digging it right now.

Listening to… the “Driving” play list on my iphone.  Just that same play list over and over again. It’s comfort. Filled with my random favorites from Pulp, the (International) Noise Conspiracy, Belle & Sebastian, the Kinks, Wild Nothing, James Brown, People Under the Stairs, Blur, Mazzy Star, Ojos Rojos, The Lumineers…to name a few.  I do always have to repeat Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division every time it plays. I feel like I’ve spent so much of my life listening to that song. It’s held so many different meanings over the years. The happiest? Dancing with old friends in run down clubs on 80s night.

on being so out of it...

I've been so absent on here lately, I know. I didn't mean to be but there are some issues (or really just one big issue) going on right now. I so want to write about it, I mean this is my blog, and I know you all are the sweetest and have the best advice, but I'm not going to get into it because it would just become a big emotional post on how I really just wanted a clean little house with a cute little family and maybe a little mobile shop. And okay, I did close myself off while I was waiting for these wanted things to line themselves up when I really should have tried to work with what I had..but then, what I had was closer to pretty bad than good and so easily fixable.
However, these things apparently just couldn't happen.
Anyway, I did say I wasn't going to get into it, didn't I? Therefore, I guess I'll be back to posting something a bit lighter once I feel a little less abandoned and screwed over.

**edit: so definitely "screwed over" was emotionally charged. I can totally stand to take that one back. Also, in every situation, I don't think I can wait for things to line up for themselves anymore. We really shouldn't do that, should we
