I don't make copies...I make originals -Michael Scott, Dunder Mifflin

I made this skirt a long while ago. However, it was very hastily made. I was always safety-pinning it closed and resewing the hem and so it was never worn as much as it deserved to be worn. Until this past week it had been pushed to the bottom of a drawer, but that's no place for such a quirky patterned fabric, is it? I took it all apart and carefully made a new skirt out of it. I like it. A lot. I can't wait for the days to warm up so that I can restyle it with a cheerfully bright colored top (maybe sea-foam). Also, let me just point out that the flapper girl necklace I'm wearing is on sale in my Storenvy shop.

An assault of Florets & Faux Pearls...

I've gathered up all my small pieces of felt and made these floret and pearl drop rings and brooches. I'll soon be adding them to Piccadilly Lilly. I really love them. Wouldn't they make the cutest accessory for Spring?
Anyway, aside from all these florets I do have to ask...are any of you as embarrassingly excited to see Titanic re-released in theaters? I am. I'm practically shaking with anticipation to see it. I may have even spent an ashamedly long amount of time looking for my heart of the ocean replica necklace my mother gifted me so many years ago. I can't believe how young I was when it first came out and that my parents let me watch it...Jack and his notebook...

Last of the reflections...

So maybe it's not the last time I'll take a photo of my reflection in a mirror, but I do have things set up now to where I don't have to. Anyway, this is my Beetlejuice inspired dress that I finished a while ago. I had only shared a couple photos of the details, so here's the whole dress! I was hesitant to wear it earlier for fear that I would kind of, I don't know, waste it? Diminish the magic of it? I don't know what I was thinking! I plan on wearing it so often that one day it will become as fragile as Dandelion dust.

Sunday tea / floral on graph paper...

I finished this dress earlier in the week and I have to say, I freaking love it! I don't know if you can see the pattern of the fabric clearly, but it definitely is floral on graph paper. You can see the fabric a bit better in this post. I think it really gives it that sweet & nerdy edge that I tend to gravitate towards. Another exciting detail about this dress? The fabric was only $1.50/ yard! What!?! I know. I also made it with a couple layers of mustard yellow fabric underneath (also $1.50/yard) to give the skirt a fuller look. What do you think, is it good enough for Sunday tea? What about you, have you finished anything you're super happy with?

Working it...

I woke up a couple of nights ago with a very sore throat. I actually have had a slightly sore throat for about a week or so. I'm actually pretty sure it has a bit to do with our house, which is why I've been the disinfecting queen lately. In any case, I'm trying not to let it derail the home alone productivity train, so I thought I would share some little items that you can now find in my Storenvy and Etsy shops.
I also have had a delightful time finding and making some new circus themed stickers, stamps, thank you cards and the cutest little freebie items to send out with all PiccadillyLilly purchases. I hope you have a chance to receive some of these items!

a glimpse at my day alone...

I made some pretty rings.
Yesterday was the first day in a while that I was home alone. I definitely get the most done that way. I don't worry about making messes while floating from one project to another, the loudness of the sewing machine, the music, the vacuum, the sounds of opening and closing the drawers, the doors...you get the point. Here are just a couple snaps from my day, I figured you wouldn't be interested in photos of my cleaning and organizing the house!

I finally finished this dress I shared on instagram.
I glittered a pair of boring black oxfords w/ Martha Stewart Craft Paint.

yesterday's OOTD: is purple my favorite color?

I wonder how long I can continue to use only my iphone for post photos? I do have a camera, but you just can't beat the convenience of using this phone, really. Take a photo and it's already on my computer in the right file and everything! Why would I want to make it harder? Not to mention I'm having a bit of a love affair with all the free photo filters you can find on this phone. I have just ordered an iphone holder for my tripod so that should bring in some variety. Outdoor photos?! Maybe.
Anyway, it's pretty much always raining here, or at least it has been so when so I get a little excited to see new colors around the house. You know, any color other than green.

OOTD: you've seen it before & you'll see it again...

I was doing so well posting almost every day last week! Sorry I couldn't keep it up guys...I've been crafting. New items, including this necklace found at PiccadillyLilly.
Anyway, my birthday was on Sunday and I just wanted to thank sweet Amanda for making it a lovely afternoon with tea and shopping. Who doesn't like going out for tea and shopping at thrift stores?! Other than that, I'm kinda glad the time change made my Sunday an hour shorter.
To the outfit...I have posted this ASOS dress before, but can you blame me for posting it again? The collar makes the dress just...great! Today I paired it with this blue and white vintage cardigan and yellow kitten heels from Target (not that you can see them in the darkest of dark rooms!)
Hope your week's off to a great start!

OOTD: cheerful colors...

Hey! Temps in the mid to lower 60s! Woot woot!! I didn't wear leggings or a scarf or a coat...whaaat?! The sun on my face felt so lovely. The weather definitely got me going for more Spring-like colors. I rarely wear this color combo, but I'm really loving it. I think it's very..."let's go hunting for Easter eggs in the vibrant flower garden."
p.s. I couldn't find my glasses this morning and my hair wasn't dry and straight yet, that's what led to these photos, but hey...you know what I look like!

Sweater: thrifted.  Top: TjMaxx. Skirt: Dorothy Perkins.

OOTD: un peu de Paris...

I've been trying to wear these shoes less for fear that they will be completely destroyed before I can find another pair that are just as comfortable and don't cost a million dollars. No luck...they call out to me every morning...sirens from the deep ocean...

OOTD: pink, cream & mustard...

Today was pretty nice and calm. It didn't rain, the sun was shining and I didn't need to wear a big heavy coat over my dress! However, after a couple of hours window shopping with a new friend, I did have to add leggings to the outfit. Anyway, on to the dress...this is one of the dresses I just finished for my Spring wardrobe. I just couldn't wait for Spring to wear it! The mustard yellow bow is definitely my favorite part.

tele-photos...

I didn't want to have to carry a camera around on our trip to Disney World so all of these photos were taken with my phone. All in all, visiting Disney World was fun and I'm glad I had the chance to do it. I mean it's Disney so of course it's going to be all cute and fun and the castle will look super magical, but I do have to say one thing...if you are closer to Disneyland in California, you should probably just stick to that one. I know it sounds terrible, but at the end of the day that's how we felt. I did however, love the hotels, Downtown Disney, the candy, wearing heart shaped sunglasses, the smell of sunblock, the warm night breeze, Mickey shaped pretzels, not having to wear leggings, the water, the palm trees...

... but I suppose you can love all those things in Cali too. I'll do an outfit post next, promise.
