diable dans le details...

Shiny (heavy) Strawberry ring, newly finished skirt with dots, daisies & bow!
I haven't posted much at all in the last few days. Mainly because I've been feeling like a cold was gonna hit, but I think it may have just passed with only a warning...fingers crossed! Also, I have been working hard every night finishing up some dresses and skirts before I head out of town. Hopefully the weather where I'm  going will allow me to wear my new pieces. I thought I would have been able to wear and photograph a couple of them by now, but it's still a bit too cold here and they're definitely warmer weather items.
Since I'll be going a few days without a reliable blogging source, I'd like to leave you with a few tele-photos highlighting some pretty details and the promise of more pretty details and photos from our mini adventures.

a happy Dorothy Perkins mail day!
Newly made necklaces in the Piccadilly Lilly shop on Storenvy!

A now finished nautical print halter dress.
Spring inspired sweetheart dress.

One of my favorite newly made dresses! Pink & cream with mustard bow.

cute explosion...

Nikon camera Sweater pin, Vintage typewriter Barrette
Happy Wednesday! This was originally supposed to be an outfit post, but I am too caught up in packing, shipping and photographing accessories. Which I am VERY happy to do! Especially the shipping part! Since I am busy and haven't gotten around to uploading my outfit photos yet, I'm doing a bit of mobile blogging and would like to share the cutest buttons that I have discovered and what I have made of them. At first, I wasn't sure about using buttons that I didn't make myself, but after some thinking, I realized that I would really like to support the small boutique that sold them and so I bought them there instead of making my own versions. I loved them the way they were, but you know I can't leave cute enough alone! So I made them into various accessories to share with you. You can find them all in my Storenvy shop, Piccadilly Lilly. Don't forget to get 10% off on every item at checkout by using the code SWEETSPY10

Yipes Stripes!

I really like sharing my current wish list items. It serves as a sort of clothes shopping list for me (especially if I have to wait for the items to go on super sale) and I think it gives you a bit of a look into my style and the things that I like. These items are from a shop called Maurices. I had never even heard of this chain of stores until I moved here last Summer. Although I wouldn't wear every item in stock, there are those few gems that capture my interest. Also, their clothes are more affordable and they offer a "ship to store" option. With a store only a few miles from my house...I might be in trouble.

happy details/ wishing the sun would come by and say hello...

vintage floral dress, ASOS cat purse, vintage nautical jacket, vintage brooch turned ring
Hi, guys! How was your Valentine's Day? Ours was quiet and low key. Star Wars at Cinetopia (that fancy place), great dinner, cookies, peaceful time. What more could I want?!
Anyway, today I had to send some items off at the Post Office and since the weather wasn't so bad I did some thrifting and fabric collecting. I wore a vintage floral dress that is much more suited for late Spring or Summer, but I felt like some flowers today! I just can't wait to wear this dress without having to weigh it down with leggings and sweaters.
fabric collecting. the anchor & sailboats may be making an appearance soon
new Singer sewing machine with antique flare. so pretty.
happiest find. new blush colored Converse at the Thrift store

what I wore...shh! it's yesterday's edition!

Happy Monday guys!  I've been busy in the greatest way since my day of procrastination (which you can catch up on if you read previous posts). Fun, pretty things have preoccupied my time, like making a dress for a lovely lady I've met who loves astronomy as much as I do & finishing a couple of custom listings through my Storenvy and Etsy shops. Anyway, this really is just a happy post in which we say "hello" to one another and I get to share yesterday's outfit.
I've been wearing this jean skirt too much because I think it goes with everything. Even if you were to tell me it didn't I really wouldn't stop wearing it because I love it and it's comfortable. Also, this is one of the peter pan collar shirts that I was working on. It came out great and it's so easy to add this collar to any shirt or dress that I can definitely see myself attacking the rest of my boring shirts with a cute collar! The shoes are definitely my "February shoes" from Forever 21.
and I'm sorry, I know I have to bust out the "real" camera soon because nothing takes a picture like a real camera on a stable tripod, but hey an iphone can get the job done too!
Also, the mail just came and with it came some great things, but not my order from Dorothy Perkins, which was dispatched 2 weeks ago! I don't remember them taking this long. (total sad face) I hope it hasn't gotten lost.

beetlejuice,beetlejuice,beetlejuice...oh man, nothing happened :(

I am in love with this dress that I made and so I had to share a sneak peek! I am waiting until I actually wear it out to take a full photo of it, but I just had to share a bit of it. It felt really great to make a dress again, no pattern or anything. I mostly just make quick skirts and move on, but for some reason I just felt like watching Beetlejuice while sewing. I guess the movie inspired my dress a bit...

The day of procrastination & embarassing wants...

When I really should be getting some serious work done; I instead made way too many versions of the New Girl "Hey Girl" interactive video, went to the store (for no real reason), & started making a dress with fabric I had hidden in a drawer. I know forgetting about what clothes and fabrics I have in all my drawers and closets seems to be a recurring theme! I'm working on it.

That was the "Procrastination" part. As for the "Embarrassing"...
This is what I saw at Target. Things I had to tell myself I didn't want, but actually secretly did.
The shirt I might actually go back for because I just miss my Pomona so badly.
shout out T-shirt to my hometown POMONA (home of the NHRA)

He talks to you! Really...

The most embarrassing? I know I wouldn't use them, but my  heart skipped a beat.

crazy with collars...

Yesterday I went a little collar crazy using  Her Name Was Greta's guest post over on Confessions of the Cupcake Countessa. The tutorial can be found here! It was just too easy not to do it. Especially if you're like me and hold on to any and every scrap of fabric because "I can still use it for something!" Well, this is what I used it for...

OOTD / realizing I have the most comfortable skirt around...

This is the skirt. My go-to, comfortable, cozy afternoon at the library skirt. How could it have gotten lost for months in the back of the skirt closet?! Oh well, I've found you now and I hope to not lose you again, lovely. There wasn't always this great love affair between me and this skirt. It was on super sale at the Ann Taylor Loft a couple years ago and I really only bought it because it was a great deal and I thought I might need a conservative skirt one day. I tried not to change and alter it like I do every other item of clothing, but after months of it hanging around and not being worn I decided that cute, big pocket was going to waste! I hemmed it about ten inches and swapped out the waist for this thicker band of maroon fabric, because I needed to add a bit of special to it. I'm glad I can't leave most of my clothes as-is.

Tele-photos & plans...

Hey it's Monday! My Sunday definitely felt like two days in one. Mostly because I woke up SUPER early on Sunday to snag some Jason Wu for Target items and after a few hours shopping it was super bowl time (which I don't really look forward to). Anyway, that was my forever Sunday experience. Friday was walk around Portland for hours night (pictured in the last post below) where I wore one of my favorite vintage dresses. Saturday was catching up on cleaning, grocery shopping, making plans. I love sharing plans, but they need a bit more time to be refined.

My coveted Jason Wu purse & skirt!

One of the little things that I'd like to share, however, is that any new items to sell (handmade or otherwise)
will be added to my Piccadilly Lilly on Storenvy only. I am just going to let my Etsy listings expire in a few months and stick to Storenvy. Things have worked out better for me there. I heart the Storenvy support team and community, so it's time to get nice and cozy there. I feel like I've been flopping back and forth between the two venues, but I think it's best to make all these changes at the beginning!

Friday clothes...

Just a little Friday recap mostly because I love what I wore...
Early Friday morning/afternoon.
I've shown you this sweater before but I'd like to introduce you to my skirt!
I've never posted it here before, but I wear it SO often that the cute print is fading.
Friday night.
This is the part where I wore a colorful vintage dress,
we walked for hours,
shopped for pretty things (the Mr.'s favorite part *eye rolls),
& ate delicious treats.
I can't wait to wear this dress in warmer weather so that I don't have to cover it up
with a coat as soon as I walk outside!

oh just a bit of "window" shopping...

I don't think that I will ever be able to get over the feminine, colorful, boxy shapes of these beauties...
The cat print (#2) is just too sweet! (click on links or on photos for a better view)

High Fidelity flashbacks...

So I had a dream starring John Cusack and woke up thinking about him...so what?! No one needs to know.
Well, I've also been thinking of some other things, so in High Fidelity style...

Top 5 things I'm too excited about, starting with number 5...ready, go!

5. Valentine's Day (?) Question mark because sometimes there's too much pressure.
4. Someone else wearing those dresses in my Piccadilly Lilly shop on storenvy. Mostly because I'm not a size 9 and that black velvet one is killing me with that collar!
3. Going to Las Vegas next month. I get to see my dearest friend and celebrate our birthdays.
2. February 5th! Getting my hands on a couple of items from the Jason Wu for Target collection.
1. Georgia.Geoooooorgiaaaaa!(sorry, there's no way to stop me from singing that) Hopefully tagging along with the Mr. while he goes back to Georgia for work. I am too in love with Georgia.

Just a little update...

I wanted to share just a few of the items that I have added to the Storenvy shop. That black velvet dress is my favorite. The collar is too cute! Be sure to take a look around when you get the chance! Don't hesitate to ask me any questions about any item.
Along with the new items in the Piccadilly Lilly Storenvy shop, I have also added a few things to the accessories on Etsy, which have all undergone some price changes up to $4 off!
The store links are in the sidebar. I'd love to have you stop by.
